SPARTANS continued to climb up the ladder in the Port Moresby women’s super league competition with a 7-1 drubbing of POMSOE at Bisini Soccer ground on Sunday.
Dominated by former Rapatona players, Spartans wasted no time when skipper Catherine Horris scored the first goal in the 4th minute.
The goal put the young Port Moresby development team on alert making every attempt to shut out their opponents.
Ramona Lorenz leveled in the 20th minute amid some confusion in the Spartans’ defence.
But Spartans hit back through flanker Hipa Pokichong in the 22nd minute before PNG skipper Deslyn Siniu scored an easy goal in the 26th minute to put her side in front 3-1.
Two minutes later, Ceslie Dobbin scored before Siniu picked up her second goal and another before the break.
In the second half, POMSOE came back strongly but could not find the net.
Delma Barnabas scored the only goal in the second half to win the match 7-1.
In the other match, PS Rutz defeated Yamaros 2-0 with goals from Margaret Joseph and Marian Aipoi.
Joseph scored in the 4th minute and Aipoi collected another in the 27th minute.
PS Rutz put up a strong defence to shut out their opponents to seal the match.
On Saturday, Guria stamped their authority by gunning down University 2-0.
Speedy flanker Flaire Sali scored 25th minute while Flossie Makeu collected another goal in the 79th minute.
