Stakeholders urged to focus on reporting, outcomes

NATIONAL Planning Minister Charles Abel has challenged stakeholders to move away from the planning processes onto more reporting and outcomes.
He told the National Consultative Implementation and Monitoring Council Development forum in Port Moresby yesterday that the national dialogue process was a primary interaction point between the Government and civil society to deliberate on this.
“We need to begin to emphasise outcomes, to move the focus away from the planning process and move to reporting and outcomes,” he said.
“It remains important for the Government to promote openness in our policy formulation, better understanding of our social issues and to promote partnership to improve delivery of social and economic programmes.
“As we start to reform that process, you will see National Planning, the National Statistic Office and some other agencies begin to produce reports more regularly.
“The national demographic health survey is underway. We have updated the national accounts for 2013.”
