Suburban league races against time to complete competition

THE washed-out games for Under-20 teams in the Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League will be played today or tomorrow at Kone Tigers Oval, Waigani.
Competition coordinator Yanga Harupa said they were running the U20 games mid-week due to the league board’s decision to pick the competition’s top 12 teams as per directives from the Southern Conferate.
“After the A-grade teams’ judiciary problems are solved with the league chairman Peter Wai, we will stage the washed-out games for the top 12 teams over the weekend, together with the top five women’s teams,” Harupa said. “We have no time to waste here as the confederate’s calendar is almost at a close.
“All our sister competitions have completed their competitions and it is only us, the PSRL, dragging our competition.”
For the women’s comp, Harupa said out of the eight teams that initially showed interest, only five teams had been committed in their weekly competitions and would enter the finals.
