Susa visits city schools

SUSA, the official mascot of the Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup, yesterday visited St Therese Primary School in Badili, National Capital District, where students and their teachers welcomed her.
The students cheered when Susa made her way into the school grounds.
Susa’s visit coincided with the Fifa ‘11 for Health’ legacy programme that is currently being run in 16 schools within NCD.
An elated head teacher Christine Tsuga, who is also the Port Moresby Soccer Association women’s vice-president said it was a privilege for the school to have Susa visit.
She said it was the first time for students and teachers to see the tournament’s mascot and they were grateful for the visit.
“The U20 Women’s World Cup 2016 not only promotes football among women but at the same time promotes gender issues such as violence against women and encourages women to break cultural barriers, excel in education and to learn about discipline,” Tsuga said.
She said PNG was privileged to have an international tournament  of such magnitude brought to the nation as it would put PNG on the world map and promote the development of football in the country.
The St Therese Primary School students were excited about Susa’s visit to their school and said they looked forward to watching the tournament in November.
The Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup Papua New Guinea 2016 will be held from Nov 13-Dec 3.
