TEACHERS and instructors in technical and vocational education training  (Tvet)institutions in six provinces are undergoing training in Lae to promote entrepreneurship education among young people.
It is funded by the European Union in partnership with the Education Department and targets schools in the National Capital District, East New Britian, Morobe, Eastern Hihglands, Enga and East Sepik.
Tvet director provincial schools operations Reuben Aue said the training was to equip teachers and instructors in colleges, technical centres and technical secondary schools to be competent in delivering programmes to students.
“EU also supports under this programme infrastructure development, capacity building in terms of policy making, planning and management to enable sustainability of Tvet in the country,” he said.
Aue told The National that with SME corporations coming onboard in the training, the education department was trying to grow Tvet into much more sustainable training programme.
He said Tvet was all about being competent to change things into a product that had value to the person and society.
Know About Business manager Peter Miria said it was about understanding the role of business in society.
He said teachers would be taught to teach business education in their schools.
