Teachers’ union told to resolve in-house matters

EDUCATION Minister Nick Kuman is calling on the teachers’ union to resolve its in-house matters so that its representative is part of the National Education Board.
New board members were appointed last week in Port Moresby.
Board chairman and education secretary Dr Uke Kombra said the union representative would be appointed later by Kuman.
“There was vacancy for some administrative issue within the union so the minister was not able to appoint a representative.” Kombra said.
“Their positions are vacant.
“They have to fix the in-house matter and then come to the minister to appoint whoever he wants.”
Kuman said he would make sure that the problem was solved.
“Whatever decision we make affects the education system,” Kuman said.
“The education system is all about students and teachers and the PNGTA represents the interest of the teachers.”
