Trappe retains Mul-Baiyer seat after tough race, praised by Wingti

PEOPLE’S National Congress party candidate and Mul-Baiyer MP Koi Trappe has retained his seat.
Trappe was declared by returning officer Tommy Kolo at the Kimininga Police Barracks in Mt Hagen on Tuesday after he polled 30,085 votes to fend off a strong challenge from runner-up and former MP Sani Rambi (24,246 votes) in the 16th exclusion.
Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti  witnessed the declaration of Trappe and congratulated him for making his second term in parliament.
Trappe thanked the people for having faith in his leadership and said that he would continue from where he had left.
He said that during his term he built schools and roads.
“I promise that they will continue to see more basic services reaching them,” he said.
Wingti said leadership was key to seeing people  enjoyed the benefits.
“This is the same thing happening here where Koi Trappe is elected into power and I thank the people for electing a good leader,” he said.
