Trust built over the years is broken

Letters

EVERY time I hear the name Patrick Pruaitch, it brings back sad memories of that fateful day when University of PNG students represented the silent majority to protest against Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and call on him to step down.
On that day when the students came face to face with police at the university gate, there was a Parliament sitting where Rabaul and Opposition MP Dr Allan Marat raised questions about the students’ protest and if the Government was aware of reports of students being shot by police.
Out of nowhere came a firing shot from National Alliance Party leader Pruaitch,, “Who are they?” referring to the student protestors.
These three words struck my heart like a sword for a national leader. I will never forget these words and I will never believe or trust any party led by Pruaitch because the scars you left on the students will remain with them for the rest of their lives.
Whether Pruaitch and his party remain in government or not, the trust that was built over the years has been broken and the damage has been done.
Nothing can rewind back to correct your mistake and its history.
NA’s reputation has been brought down it its lowest point in history under your leadership and you will be the reason for its demise in the June elections.
