THE people of Kainantu district in Eastern Highlands have thanked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for appointing their MP Johnson Tuke to be part of the caretaker Cabinet.
Community leader Treksy Anakime on behalf of the four local level governments in Kainantu said Tuke’s appointment was a long time coming.
He said the people of Kainantu Urban, Agarabi, Kamano One and Kamano Two appreciated the decision.
He said past governments had always bypassed Kainantu MPs when picking Cabinet ministers.
“But today, MP Tuke who won the seat for a second successive term, is recognised and allocated ministries in the caretaker cabinet.”
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill appointed Tuke, the new deputy leader of the People’s Progress Party, to be in charge of mining, culture,
arts and tourism, provincial affairs, environment, conservation and climate change.
