Tuke welcomes post as interim mining minister

Kainantu MP and caretaker minister Johnson Tuke says his appointment is a recognition of the people of Kainantu.
The deputy leader of the People’s Progress Party said this when welcoming his appointment as caretaker Minister for Mining, Culture and Tourism, Provincial Affairs, and Environment and Conservation and Climate Change.
He recently graduated in public policy management from the University of Papua New Guinea.
“This is my first time as a minister,” he told The National.
“I was a vice minister, and when the PPP went to Opposition (in the last Parliament), I left that voice-ministry.
“All in all, I think I have done justice to the people of Kainantu after so many years of not being awarded a ministry.
“The important thing is that I’ll be working alongside some of the most senior ministers and Statesmen.”
Meanwhile, Tuke said his opponents were causing problems in Kainantu, which he said were uncalled fors.
