IT will be a fun-filled weekend when the PNG Under-20 women soccer team host their parents before the World Cup next month.
Coach Lisa Cole said the team management invited the parents of the U20 players for a final visit before the World Cup on Nov 3-Dec 13 in Port Moresby.
Cole said such a gesture was to say thank you to the parents for allowing their daughters and trusting the PNG team management to take care of the young women for a year.
Activities will start on Friday with a talent show and fundraiser at Pacific Gardens Hotel to raise fund to support the U20 team for their New Zealand tour leading to the Fifa tournament.
“A barbecue will be held on Saturday for the players, their families and the staff of the National Sports Institute to show our gratitude for their hospitality and support for the duration of our stay,” Cole said.
“NSI has been our home-away-from home for the past twelve months and we wish to thank everyone for their support and encouragement.”
On Sunday, Goroka Grammar School will host the students athletes, teachers and staff.
The coach said she expected a great last weekend in Goroka for the PNG U20 women.
