Unggai-Bena electrification viable: PPL

THE Unggai-Bena district in Eastern Highlands has spent more than K6 million to provide 40 kilometres of power lines as part of its rural electrification project, according to PNG Power Limited.
PNG Power’s director of rural electrification Clement Bonny said the district invested K6.3 million in the rural electrification project.
“The district’s viable rural electrification project has already covered 40km and you have supported PNG Power’s vision to bring
electricity to every home,” Bonny said.
He said this during the opening of the Bobiufa-Sigerehi segment of the project on Wednesday. He thanked Unggai-Bena MP Benny Allan for engaging PNG Power to connect electricity to every corner of the district.
Allan thanked PNG Power for partnering with the district in the rural electrification project.
He also thanked Governor Julie Soso for allocating K500,000 in counterpart funding. The Unggai-Bena rural electrification projects include Kamaliki-Yabiufa (completed), Bobiufa-Sigerehi (switched on), Mohuveto One-Rintebe (completed), Lahame-Sogopegu (in progress), Bena bridge-Dirty Wara (in progress), Ketarabo-Unggai High School (in progress) and Sagifa-Bena SDA School (in progress).
