Uni hails graduates for making it through tough times

THE 1100 students who graduated at the University of Papua New Guinea on Friday were praised for their sacrifice and commitment.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Vincent Malaibe said the event was a milestone in the lives of the graduates who have completed their programmes despite the tough times UPNG went through, including the protests and boycotts last year.
Malaibe thanked the university council, partners and the government for making sure that UPNG did not fail in its mandate in ensuring that the students completed their studies and graduated.
Acting UPNG Chancellor Jerry Wemin said the graduation was a result of sacrifice  which ensured that UPNG continued to produce graduates without compromising quality, making sure that students meet the necessary academic standard to graduate.  They graduated from the School of Business and Public Policy, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of Law, School of Medicine and Health Sciences and the School of Natural and Physical Sciences.
