University council members hold meeting in Kimbe


COUNCIL members of the University of Goroka are in Kimbe for the first graduation of the early childhood programme in West New Britain.
Chancellor Joseph Sukwianomb and Vice-Chancellor Professor Musawe Sinebare will have a council meeting at Liamo Resort before the graduation today.
Sinebare said at Porapora village in Hoskins that the council decided to hold its meeting outside Goroka to go to where the people are.
He said they were happy with an understanding with the West New Britain government for the training of elementary teachers.
The first batch of teachers under the Early Childhood Programme graduated in April at the University of Goroka Campus.
The students who took up the Early Childhood Programme will graduate today.
Provincial chairman for education services Victor Narere said the priority of the Muthuvel government was on health and education.
Narare said as such, West New Britain provincial government appreciated the partnership with University of Goroka to train the teachers under the early childhood programme.
