UOG donates boxes of books to schools in Goroka

THE University of Goroka (UOG) donated 53 boxes of books to 13 schools in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, recently as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The books were from the university’s Steven Eka Library.
A total of 52 computers were also donated to 12 primary schools, including the Kapa Kamaliki Four Square Bible College, PNG Bible College, Goroka Police and Bihute Correctional Institute.
Three elementary schools or early learning centres, four primary schools and six secondary schools in Goroka were recipients of the donated books and computers.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Musawe Sinebare said the donation was a token of appreciation to the schools that are UOG’s partners and , who contributes to teacher education through the university’s micro-teaching assessment.
“This month is a special month for UOG as UOG will be celebrating 20 years as a university,” Sinebare said.
“The university has trained more than 20,000 secondary school teachers dating back to its Goroka Teaching College days.
“The early learning centres, primary and secondary schools in Goroka are partners of UOG in training teachers,” he said.
The university will have celebrations from April 25-28.
