US name squad for World Cup


THE US Under-20 Women’s national team head coach Michelle French has named the 21 players who will represent the country at the Federation of the International Football Associations (Fifa) U20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea from Nov 13-Dec 3.
The US opens the tournament on Nov 14 against France, faces New Zealand on Nov 17 and finishes the group against Ghana Nov 21.
The USA will play its first two group games at the National Football Stadium and its third group game at Sir John Guise Stadium.
“Throughout this cycle, we have gone through an extensive process evaluating a number of players in various environments,” French said.
“The final World Cup roster is comprised of players that provide great depth and versatility in every position. The way in which players competed to be a part of the roster, their commitment and their overall dedication to each other, has been tremendous.”  US squad: Goalkeepers (3): Rose Chandler, Brooke Heinsohn, Casey Murphy; Defenders (7): Madeline Elliston, Emily Fox, Sabrina Flores, Ellie Jean, Natalie Jacobs, Taylor Otto, Kaleigh Riehl; Midfielders (7): Marley Canales, Katie Cousins, Savannah DeMelo, Kelcie Hedge, Emily Ogle Courtney Petersen, Parker Roberts ; Forwards (4): Ashley Sanchez, Mallory Pugh, Jessie Scarpa, Ally Watt . – US Soccer
