ELISA Simon sells Papua New Guinea flag-coloured shirts for men at K100.
She sews and screen-prints the shirts herself at home.
“My male shirts run out fast mainly because there are not many women who are selling them,” Simon said.
She also sells the shirts to a retailer at Vision City for K250.
“I do not sell at the main craft market. I have my regular customers who call me up and place their orders,” she said.
“I stay at home and sell my products.”
“I do not have a steady market that I go to everyday to sell my products.
“I mainly sell my arts and crafts at the Port Moresby craft market on Saturdays at the four different locations.”
They are at Holiday Inn, Laguna Hotel, IEA Tafe College in town and the Moresby Arts Theatre.
Simon said the income she makes from selling her products helps to sustain her family.
“For a Saturday, I make about K500 on my bilum products and meri blouses.
“The money helps to sustain myself and buy materials and cottons wools to make more my bilum and meri blouses.”
