Wakia becomes top-level engineer

SERAH Wakia has a Masters in Science degree specialising in petroleum engineering – thanks to the support of her employer Oil Search.
Wakia, 26, from Wapenamanda district in Enga, is one of those who have developed their careers and furthered their education with support of Oil Search.
“I am thankful to Oil Search for providing me this invaluable opportunity and helping me to obtain my Masters,” Wakia said.
“As a female engineer, I feel Oil Search has walked the talk in its efforts to develop employees and empowering women.
“I am humbled and honoured to serve my country and Oil Search in such capacity.
“I see the value of education in empowering our people, especially our women.
“I would like to be a role model to our youth, challenging them to not only dream big but to work hard to break down the barriers that get in the way of their success.
“Oil Search has certainly provided me the platform to not only develop my skill but also my leadership style.
“I am proud to work for an organisation that has the highest regard for the safety of its people.”
She joined the company in 2012 as a graduate petroleum engineer.
She was the Development Petroleum Engineer and Well Integrity Engineer before being appointed Production Engineer overseeing the Kutubu Central Processing Facility.
