Wantoks claim city soccer title

WANTOKS clinched their eighth premiership with a 3-1 win over SOG FC in the men’s A League final of the National Capital District Public Servants Soccer Association (NCDPSSA) on Saturday.
The Hekari feeder club had to work hard and managed to secure the victory midway into the second half from a brilliant strike by Ati Kepo outside the 18-metre mark to beat keeper Cedric Kini.
This followed two first-half goals from Karo Ila and Ila Kali to take them into the break leading 2-1.
SOG’s lone goal came from a spot kick taken by dangerman Patrick Nota.
Wantoks had several scoring chances on either side of the match but could not convert the opportunities into points “This is the eighth grand final win for Wantoks and is a milestone,” association president Vonnie Kapi Nato said during the presentation.
