WATER is a scarce resource that must be used wisely, World Vision’s Wash (water, sanitation and Health)  project manager Michael Koisi says.
Koisi reminded students at Badihagwa Secondary School in NCD of the importance of conserving water at an event commemorating World Water Day yesterday.
“Water is now becoming a scarce resource so it is important to get the message out tostudents, who are in a better position of understanding so they can pass on the message to other members of their communities.”
He said water must be used wisely, especially within the urban setting because water consumption in the city was an expensive exercise.
The event was hosted by World Vision in line with its Wash project in Hanuabada village to commemorate World Water Day which falls on March 23 each year.
World Vision advocacy and communications officer Tommy Maima said one of the Wash project’s key approaches was to ensure Hanuabada village had access to clean and safe water.
He said the event was therefore an important aspect of awareness for the students.
“The significance of the event is to engage students to be aware of the importance of saving water and the use of waste water.”
