Weather office sees more rain and floods

PEOPLE should expect more rain in the months leading up to December, according to National Weather Office assistant director Jimmy Gomoga.
Gomoga told The National that the country had recovered from the drought last year and this year should be better weather-wise.
“We are heading towards our transitional period. By late September and October, the wind should die down,” Gomoga said.
“And the south-east tradewinds should ease off. We should be transiting to our wet season. The north-west monsoon season should be expected.”
He said flooding was experienced in Western, Milne Bay and Morobe.
“During the coming wet season, we should be expecting more flooding to occur in many provinces,” he said.
