What it means to be a woman

Letters

IF I were a blind and extreme feminist I would give the prime minister the thumbs up for his intention to re-introduce to parliament the proposal for 22 exclusive seats for women.
However, I personally would label as parochial and foolish any government or individual who advocates for the idea by fiddling with the existing laws and policies of Papua New Guinea.
To do as the prime minister is proposing will only reaffirm the notion that women are weak, incompetent, inadequate and sub-standard in the political arena.
Women should compete with men on the same platform to prove themselves as equals.
Women, we cannot on one hand say that we are as good as men and then on the other hand ask for special treatment.
The true challenge is to compete and be successful without any special treatment.
