Wife dies after husband allegedly punched her

A MAGISTATE has described as unfortunate, the case of a woman who collapsed and died after her husband had allegedly punched her on her side.
Moses Nianpo, 30, from Biwat village in Angoram district, East Sepik is alleged to have caused the death of Margaret Esau on April 8 inside the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Police alleged that he punched and rupturing her spleen. She collapsed and later died.
Police alleged that Nianpo and Esau had an argument when they went to visit Esau’s brother who was admitted at the Port Moresby General Hospital hospital.
Nianpo allegedly punched Esau on her side and she collapsed.
He took her to the emergency ward but she died.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Cosmas Bidar told the court last Friday that people dying from spleen problems was becoming common, especially amongst women.
The court is expecting a submission on the sufficiency of evidence from Nianpo’s lawyer when the matter returns next Friday.
