THE PNG Law Society has urged trainees attending the Legal Training Institute in Waigani to be willing to learn their legal profession.
Lawyer Michael Henao, who represented the PNG Law Society at the closing of a Commercial Litigation Workshop at LTI last Friday, told the trainees of LTI not be complacent and satisfied with the information they had.
“There is always someone else who can share with us a different view point, share with us a different life experience that can hopefully improve on us and ultimately the results for our client,” Henao said.
“We (PNG Law Society) hope that each of you will take away the lessons that you’ve learnt from our colleagues from the Queensland bar and that you will be able to build upon it. We look forward to welcoming you to the PNG bar at the end of your course.” Ethel Heagi, on behalf of this year’s LTI class, said they were grateful for the knowledge shared by the Queensland bar team which included Australian federal judge and non-resident judge in PNG Justice John Logan.
“We are definitely better advocates than we were on (last) Monday when we started this programme,” Heagi said.
