THE West New Britain kickboxing team’s preparations for next year’s PNG Games are gaining momentum.
As part of their preparations, the team will attend a tournament in Wewak next month.
WNB Kick Boxing Association president Stanis Maela said his fighters, including a woman, were preparing well for the Wewak tournament. Maela was confident that the fighters would do well.
“The team will perform in various curtain-raiser bouts before the main event, a challenge between Kimbe’s John Kenneth and East Sepik veteran Mark Sai for the Bullet Promotion Title of Wewak.
“Both fighters are preparing well for the title fight,” Maela said.
“The tournament will be a good lead up to the PNG Games for the squad.
“Provinces attending the Games have been warned to be prepared as Team WNB kickboxing is ready to change the tide after unpopular decisions in Lae in 2014 cost them gold medals,” Maela said.
“We want to ensure that transparency and fairness prevail during the Games.”
