Woman charged with conspiracy

A MOROBE woman working in Lihir, New Ireland was arrested and charged with conspiracy last week.
East New Britain acting police commander Senior Inspector Joseph Tabali said the woman identified as Lynn Kahata, 26, from Butibam village in Morobe, had allegedly conspired with another female suspect to misappropriate over K70,000 from their employer.
The other suspect identified as Rosalyn Vilamur, 37, from Tavuiliu village in Gazelle district, ENB, was arrested and charged with misappropriation last month.
Tabali said Vilamur was alleged to have misappropriated K70,816.78 using the Kundu Pay application from Pok’che Properties Limited in Lihir.
He said the alleged offence was committed between July 18 and Aug 2.
Vilamur had allegedly made unapproved Kundu Pay transactions from the company’s BSP cheque account to other accounts.
She allegedly used the company’s satellite laptop to make the transactions while on leave in Kokopo.
Tabali said the company management became suspicious of her when she submitted a notice of resignation to the company during her leave.
According to police reports, the company management had then asked her to provide recent payroll records and to return the company laptop, however, she refused.
