A WOMAN facing fraud-related charges and benefitting from the estate of her late husband will stand trial in Waigani National Court on Sept 26.
Freda Kaman, 50, from Krumugl village in Kundiawa district of Chimbu, was alleged to have pretended to be the next of kin of the late Barunke Kaman and transferred the title of a property at Kundiawa, Chimbu, belonging to her late husband to her name on Aug 6, last year at the Department of Lands and Physical Planning in Port Moresby.
She was his fifth wife.
Magistrate John Kaumi told Kaman that there was sufficient evidence against her for a trial.
Barunke Kaman passed away on Dec 4, 2008 at Pacific International Hospital without writing a will and a letter of administration was granted by the national court to the Office of the Public Curator to administer Barunke’s estate.
Kaman allegedly transferred the property section 1, lot 2, State lease volume 13, folio 119 at Kundiawa, Chimbu, to herself by pretending to be the next of kin of her late husband.
