WOMEN are taking a new direction to rebuild and maintain the Christian faith through equal participation, a leader says.
Evangelical Lutheran Church PNG national women’s director Cathy Mui said women should acquire the skills and knowledge to spread the gospel.
More than 5400 women delegates from the church’s 17 districts are holding their national conference in Sinasina-Yongmugl in Chimbu this week.
Mui said the women had two new programmes on gender and early childhood education.
The delegates were told that revising, reviewing and maintaining the programmes was the way forward for the women to focus on the church.
The women at the conference will:

  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of the past regarding church programmes and revise, review and maintain them;
  • revise policies;
  • discuss the five-year plan; and,
  • Restructure the church.

“Those are all from the church’s vision which would assist the women to achieve through prayers, Bible and live practically by faith,” Mui said.
“Setting up a foundation in life for a better future entirely depends on a strong spiritual foundation.”
The plan is to have programmes which will educate women to be skilful and apply what they have learnt daily.  “Focusing on the family is an important component in the church to ensure the mission work by women will help daily to get the family in order,” she said.
