MOTHERS living in Morata settlement in the National Capital District have formed an association to address social issues affecting women and young people in the city.
Vibovu Women’s Association started in 2016 and comprises of women and youths living in Morata and parts of Waigani.
The association is engaged in doing voluntary work like cleaning, conducting awareness on violence against women and girls and advocating for a clean and safe environment.
Association president Maryrose Ron said that if everyone felt responsible for the issues affecting their lives, their families and community, Port Moresby would be a better place to live in.
“For instance, we cannot just sit back and wait for contractors from the NCDC to come and collect our rubbish and clean our homes,” Ron said.
