Young entrepreneurs participate in networking

Youth & Careers

THE Young Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a networking event with Ela Motors last Thursday to help encourage young entrepreneurs to develop themselves in their businesses.
Association president Christopher Elphick told The National that there were lots of young people starting their careers in businesses and did not know where to start.
The association was formed to recognise young people by meeting and sharing ideas to build their careers in businesses they were in.
“It is a community of young people that share the same interest and when you get good people together with a shared interest, good things can happen,” Elphick said.
“It gives the opportunity for people to meet new people and share their business ideas together or they can be able to meet new customers to grow their business.” He said having that networks was the way forward for businesses in the country to grow.
“We have institutions sending invitations to find young potential Papua New Guineans to go join them overseas,” Elphick said.
“And in this gathering we get to find that person, market him or her to companies outside, whether it be in Australia or New Zealand anywhere.”
He said companies such as Ela Motors recognised young entrepreneurs in the country.
