FINANCE Minister James Marape has urged members of parliament to furnish reports to the ministry of national planning on the use of NADP funds in their districts.

Marape said government ministers and MPs should return to their districts and check which projects had been implemented.

He said the government had realised where the shortfalls were and wanted to address it to get the value for money received.

“It comes down to the manner in which the whole of the government approaches the use of these funds handled by politicians and bureaucrats and is a breakdown of the disbursement system that was intended for a worthy and noble cause in the agriculture sector.

“K520 million makes up for to 7% of the country’s total budget,” he said.

Marape said looking through funds allocated to the districts, there was a K7.5 million allocated to his district for a coffee factory for which he has no knowledge of.

“ For me, in my own district, K7.5 million was reported to go towards a coffee factory and I want to establish who got the money and if there is a coffee factory in my district because I have no knowledge of the submission,” he said.

Marape said there would be no more handling of cash at Vulupindi House.
