THE Ahi Land Mobilisation Authority says it was not consulted by the Morobe Fisheries Management Authority on the multi-million kina Wagang fisheries wharf project.
Authority executive officer Kathryn Apelis said that after Wagang villagers stopped work on the project.
She said the wharf was one of the impact projects of the provincial government to cater for the Lae Port Tidal Basin and Lae-Nadzab rehabilitation.
“The thinking is that the Morobe provincial government, through its business arm, will be partners with the Wagang landowners,” Apelis said.
“Landowners will have the title but they will lease it to the business arm of the provincial government with the investor.
“Every time when we have our meetings, we ask them to put it out clearly because this has to go back to the landowners.
“In fact, Morobe Fisheries are behind this because they want a wharf to cater for the canneries at Malahang,”she said.
