NEW parents have been urged to name their babies early so their birth could be recorded at the Birth Registry.
It was important that the child was registered at the time of birth, Birth Registration Officer Betania Deilala said.
He added that a problem faced in registering children was because parents did not name the baby before birth, and they took their time to do it.
“This caused delays in the birth registration,” he said.
Mr Deilala was speaking at the National Health Week, during which he gave out more than 4,000 birth registration forms to the visitors.
The St John Blood Bank, another participant, was busy tending to donors.
Sister in charge, Sr Vari Baulele said up to yesterday morning, 43 bags of blood were received from volunteers.
