THE Morobe Peace and Good Order committee will not entertain any compensation claims by individuals or groups for bodies that were repatriated during the ethnic crisis between Highlanders and Morobeans last November.
Committee chairman Haggai Joshua said there would be no compensation payments made to anyone.
He said Morobe province had not issued any orders for the civil unrest.
He said the provincial government could not be held responsible for the rioting and deaths.
“We, the committee, have tabled a report and will not entertain demands of compensation payments from anyone,” he said.
The Morobe-Highlands ethnic clash last year stemmed from frustrations from people over petty crimes such as bag and bilum snatching, pick-pocketing and the harassment of men, women and children, especially by thugs who loitered around the major bus stops in Lae city.
