LESS than 14 weeks before the issue of writs for the general election, Jiwaka is yet to find an administration building.
It also is yet to set in motion a public service machinery to prepare the new province for its first ever national election.
The Jiwaka Transitional Authority should by now be finalising its list of civil servants to drive the administration machinery, according to a reliable source close to the administration.
The public servants structure was approved by the Public Service Commission and Department of Personnel Management last year.
The source said a meeting last November resolved to advertise the positions for public servants in December.
That meeting also resolved to buy Waghi Klos’ warehouse – which is under receivership at K3.5 million – and convert it into offices.
The source said Nicholas Kuman was advised to buy the warehouse and was blamed for causing the delay because he was the only one in charge of the authority’s funds.
