EAST Sepik’s Brugam Secondary School principal Brian Waranduo has supported Jubilee Catholic Secondary School principal in describing the Grade 12 Examination English answer sheets as very poor.
He said the Outcomes Based Education (OBE) curriculum concentrated more on writing and comprehension and not much emphasis was placed on speaking, listening, reading and grammar as in the past.
Waranduo suggested the curriculum be reviewed and greater emphasis be put on speaking, reading, debate, book reviews and essay writing to make students more creative and competitive.
He congratulated Dr Musawe Sinebare on his appointment as Education secretary.
urging him to work closely with the implements of the policies and curriculum to see improvement in all aspects of our education system.
Waranduo urged educationists to work closely with Sinebare to identify factors that contribute to the decline in education standard, like promised teachers pay rise and find strategies for improvement to achieve the goals and the vision of the department.
