‘Please deliver’ MP told

RUGBY LEAGUE and soccer followers in the border town of Vanimo, West Sepik, are still waiting for their promised K300,000 financial assistance from local MP Belden Namah.
A Vanimo resident who wished to remain anonymous, said Namah,during the official opening of the National Boxing championships last December, publicly announced the allocation of funds to two sports – rugby league (K200,000) and soccer (K100,000).
He said with other sports well into their competitions, nothing tangible had taken place in terms of fencing and upgrading of the field to cater for the administration of the two sports in the West Sepik capital.  “While the elections can be an excuse, sports lovers want to see rugby league and soccer alive in the province,” the caller said.
Former PNG Kumuls and West Sepik’s son, Arnold Krewanty took it upon himself to register the Vanimo Rugby Football League (VRFL) with Investment Promotion Authority (IPA) last year, hoping for the quick release of the money for rugby league.
Krewanty, with the help of PNG Kumul coach Adrian Lam, was supposed to conduct a road show and run several training camps for rugby league clubs in Vanimo before the rugby league season began this year.
“Unfortunately, nothing has come through so are asking when the honourable Vanimo-Green member will make available the resources.”
In other news, Krewanty only this week joined the PNGNRL Bid as a games development manager.
 With the PNG Games in November, Team Sandaun are also petitioning Namah to provide funds for the province’s athletes to travel to Kokopo.
