OPPOSITION spokesman on health Jamie Maxtone-Graham has called on acting Prime Minister Sam Abal to sack Health Minister Sasa Zibe and department secretary Dr Clement Malau for incompetence.
The Anglimp-South Waghi MP claimed that Zibe and Malau had allowed certain officers in the department to rob the state of much-needed funds to fight HIV/AIDS in Papua New Guinea.
“It is incumbent on the acting prime minister to move swiftly and sack the minister and secretary because both have totally failed to take charge and deal with the culprits,” Maxtone-Graham said.
“Their incompetence has resulted in gross abuse and misuse of funds earmarked for PNG under the Global Fund for fight against HIV/AIDS.”
Maxtone-Graham said Abal should direct state law enforcing agencies to start questioning the individuals involved and prosecute them.
