100 march to give disabled people a voice

MORE than 100 people marched through Popondetta town in Northern on Monday calling on the authorities to consider the plight of persons living with disabilities in development projects.
The event was organised by the Northern Coalition for Disability Rights. It brought together disability groups from Sohe and Ijivitari electorates.
They includes the Saiho Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre, Higaturu Disabled Association, Oro Kinise and Disabled Persons Organisation, Gona Coastline Disability Foundation, Eagle Eye Foundation and Afore Disabled, Orphans and Widows Group.
Northern Coalition for Disability Rights chairperson Lorraine Siraba said they applauded the Department of Community Development for the Policy on Disability.
