FAIRFAX volleyball will spike off their 2010 season with a pre-season competition that will start in March at Taurama Leisure Centre volleyball courts in Port Moresby.
Twelve teams are expected to compete in this year’s competition with most teams more focused on the premiership flag.
The teams will definitely be intending to improve from last season’s performance.
Reigning champions in the men’s and women’s divisions, Raukele will be looking to defend their titles because they aware of what their rivals have in store for them.
Raukele match manager Hans Mangem said yesterday that it was a good year for Raukele last season to claim the premiership in both divisions.
“We are definitely the team to beat this season,” Mangem said.
Other clubs competing this season are Fire Defence, Telikom, Monier Bombers, Peteru, Freeway Hox and Black Thunder.
Other clubs intending to participate this season and showcase their talents will have to pay K500 club affiliation fees and a player registration fee of K20.
There are also four more new volleyball courts at TLC and teams or clubs are encouraged to field more teams in the competition.
