MADANG students attending the University of Goroka returned home yesterday in four buses following the clash at the university last weekend.
Vicky Keno, a fourth-year student, said the 135 students from Madang travelled home in the four buses hired by the university and the Madang provincial government.
Keno said students from Morobe and Madang travelled together under a police escort. They went their separate ways when they reached Water Rise in Markham, Morobe.
A fight broke out at the university between two factions of students from the highlands region which resulted in the hospitalisation of 50 students at the Goroka Base hospital.
Madang town mayor Joe Yama representing parents of the Madang students thanked the university for sending the students home early.
