19-year-old man found dead on Hisiu beach

A NINTEEN-year-old man was found dead on a Hisiu beach, Kairuku, Central, last Friday, police say.
Staff officer to police commander for NCD/Central Senior Insp David Terry said police located a suspect and he was now in police custody.
“The suspect is also from Hisiu.,” he said.
“As part of the ongoing investigations, he was arrested and charged and has been detained.”
Terry said the deceased was Peter Paul from Eastern Highlands and Central, and the suspect was a 19-year-old male from Hisiu in Central.
Central police commander Supt John Midi confirmed with The National that the suspect was picked up and detained.
Meanwhile, Midi said Central police were deployed on Wednesday to the five districts in the province to support local troops in continuing their efforts and preparations for polling.
He said a group of 56 men and women under respective field commanders were engaged earlier for preliminary tasking for General Election 2022 (GE22).
“GE22 security operations will go on for the duration of polling and counting until members of the parliament are all voted in,” he said.
Midi said after the GE22, they would revert to their normal operations.
He called on Central police personnel to be good servants of the people of the country and Central in particular by remaining ethical and professional.
