THE Lae district court has committed a 19-year-old man to stand trial this month for the death of another young man at Maple Street, Eriku in Lae early this year.
James Toro from Wandi village, Kundiawa, Simbu province, was charged with the murder of one Moses Kauli, contravening section 300 (1) (b) of the criminal code act.
He appeared before committal magistrate Daro Kevau yesterday.
Brief facts from police investigations show that last March 21,  at 4pm, Toro was walking along Maple St, Eriku with two others when they met a group of boys standing in front of Lae Secondary School gates.
As they walked by,  Kauli greeted them and then mocked them while his friends laughed.
When Toro walked over to question the boys, Kauli began throwing punches at him.
Police said in the exchange, Kauli lost his footing, fell and hit his head on the bitumen.
He was pronounced dead after three days on life support.
