2 religious groups to get Naru’s fund aid
The National, Thursday February 12th, 2015
MOROBE Governor Kelly Naru promised K40,000 to congregations in the Sangang circuit of Markham district.
He committed K20,000 each to the Sifu congregation and Saking parishioners.
Funding for Sifu is to help the community complete its church building. For Saking, it is to help parish leaders meet church programmes and administration costs, including the wages of a pastor.
The Sifu community started construction of the church building five years ago. However, financial constraints prevented it from completing it. Last Saturday, while Naru was on his way to Rumu, the elders stopped him along the road and took him to the construction site. Naru said before any progress in socio-economy activities, spiritual activities were the core element to ensure people remained peaceful to appreciate programmes that were delivered to help improve lives.
Naru made the commitments at the Rumu Lutheran Primary School after launching free school uniforms for pupils and teachers last Saturday. He said that interestingly, the Saking Parish was situated in the Huon Gulf district based on political boundaries but church records show that it was catered for under Sangang circuit in the Markham district.
