National Capital District police who missed out on their allowances for the Pacific Games operations have been reminded of the oaths they took to serve the people.
NCD Metro Supt Andy Bawa said their payments were being prepared. He had assured the personnel that their payments would be made before the Games opened on July 4.
Bawa said about 200 were yet to be paid while 500 were paid.
Bawa said he received an assurance from headquarters that outstanding payments would be made as funds were allocated for the purpose.
Bawa said the delay was due to administrative matters that needed to be addressed. “You will get paid. When the funds are released I will let your respective station commanders know. There is not need for members to be jumping up and down,” he said.
He encouraged officers to remain focused and reminded them of the oath they had taken. “Think about the country and the call of service you have been entrusted with because the security of Pacific Islanders and Papua New Guineans is paramount and we must provide that,” Bawa said.
