200-plus students in Philippines prepare for exams
The National, Monday March 31st, 2014
MORE than 200 Papua New Guinean students pursuing university education in the Philippines are now sitting their second semester final examinations which started last week.
At the close of each semester, a final examination is given to students wherein their scores constitute 50% of their academic grade.
PNG students in the Philippines are enrolled to world-class universities such as University of San Carlos, University of Southern Philippines, University of Cebu, Indiana Aerospace University, and Benedicto College.
Although summer season has officially started in the Philippines, PNG students will have to wait for a week to spend their break to hurdle their books and study for their final exams.
“I am really excited already to visit beautiful island resorts in Cebu to enjoy summer and go back to PNG for the school break,” bachelor of science in economics freshman student, David Kila said.
A week before schools officially close for summer break, Kila focused and busied himself, managing his time to review all his lessons.
He is hoping to maintain his good marks from the previous semester.
Kila and 200 other PNG students studying in the Philippines are under the education placement services of Paradise International Education Consultancy (PIEC), a Filipino education placement agency based in Cebu, Philippines.
PIEC was founded in 2012.
