20,000 people to benefit from road in Dei

MORE than 20,000 people in Dei, Western Highlands, will now be travelling on a sealed road, thanks to their local MP Westley Nukundj. Nukundj, under the public infrastructure programme, funded the completion of the 15km Eng-Ambra Road for K10 million. A high school and three primary schools will also benefit apart from farmers. According to project superintendent Amos Kaupa, from Kaiaworks, they were in the second phase and needed to cover two more phases to complete the sealing.Kaupa said last week, they were doing the pre-coat and final touch in the presence of Dei chief executive officer Batamai Tipi. Hagen North High School principal Michael Dupri said it was a dream come true given the hardship, struggles and pain caused over the years without a proper road. Dupri said transporting materials and staff was a concern they faced on a daily basis. Rauna ward 20 councillor Daniel Bee thanked Nukundj for funding the sealing project.
Bee said poor roads had been their daily concern.
