 THE New Ireland provincial government has passed 21 legislations in the past six years to improve its administration and service delivery.

Provincial administrator Monovi Amani and public servants attended a two-day provincial liaison conference to discuss the ‘Declaration Forward’ and current policies.

Participants came from local level governments in Tanir, Konoagil and Murat.

The participants said the workshop had taught them to be more effective in disseminating government programmes and policies.

Director for Assembly Services Ao Ure briefed the participants on the 21 legislations the provincial government had passed in the past six years.

Matters discussed include :

  • The road to autonomy for New Ireland;
  • over head policies;
  • ward development grants;
  • sweat equity; and,
  • Proposed commodity stabilisation fund.

Governor Sir Julius Chan thanked provincial assembly chiefs Demas Kavavu and Doliu Saulo and the people of Usil and Pangeifua for the conference.

“Liaison officers are our ears and mouths in rural areas,” he said.

“We are committed to putting together a unified team for the good of the people of New Ireland and we are truly a legislative government passing 21 provincial legislations in the past six years.”
