219 juniors tee-off

A TOTAL of 219 players teed-off on Monday along with Papua New Guinea’s Shavina Maras and Brian Taikiri on the greens of Coolangatta Tweed Heads River Course for the Greg Norman Junior Masters tournament.
In the boys U15 division, Ruben Sondjaja (Bonie Doon) leads the way with one-under 71  from Alex Wall (Virginia) on 72 while PNG’s Brian Taikiri is sitting on the 25th place with five-over77.
Forty-four players are in this group.
In the girls U17, a fine round of two-under 70 sees Jade Panos (Lake Karrinyup) in front.
She is followed by Jessica Park (Indooroopilly) at one-under 73 while PNG’s Shavina Maras of Lae is 20th out of 26 participants in her division and will look to improve her placing from a disastrous 20-over 92.
Australia are currently dominating the top spots of this year’s Greg Norman Junior Masters golf tournament, attracting all states of Australia and 18 Queensland Districts Golf associations against seven other countries at this year’s junior masters.
