ENGA has recorded 28 Coronavirus (Covid-19) deaths with 714 positive cases since September, the provincial health authority says.
Authority director of medical services Dr Kanandru Pondros said of the total positive cases, 113 were health staff. One (staff) died.
Dr Pondros said the 28 deaths were all unvaccinated and they encouraged people to get vaccinated and stay safe.
He said this month, they had seen changes with number going down and hoped that it was a good sign for the province.
He said Enga was one of the country’s 10 high-risk provinces and they were doing all they could to control the spread.
Dr Pondros, who is the acting director for curative health, said with support from the provincial government, they had been given K1 million to manage the Covid-19 in the province.
Provincial administrator and assistant controller and chairman of the provincial Covid-19 task force committee, Dr Samson Amean, said their task was to educate the people, adding that the task force team was doing it’s best to bring the message right down to the people.
He said since 2019, they had been conducting major awareness.
